Brian Farquharson is an international mountain guide (IFMGA) and the owner of Outdoor Activities, which offers mountaineering tours, treks and instruction. He has led tours in Europe and Asia, and he runs avalanche awareness courses throughout the Alps.

He is known for routinely teaching and practising avalanche awareness and mountain safety with clients at the end of the afternoon on hut tours, as a sure way of working up an even bigger appetite for supper.

Brian is also a consultant to the film industry, and a qualified ski, kayaking, windsurfing and scuba diving instructor. Originally from Scotland, Brian moved to the Swiss Alps in 1982. He lives in Grindelwald and Zermatt with his wife Pia and their son Sammy.
